A little-known gem, tucked away in one of the bylanes of Kucha Mahajani, opposite Balli Maran as one goes towards the Old Delhi Railway Station, is the Churuwala Halwai. The shop was started by Sri Deen Dayal Sharma almost 50 years ago and is famous for its dal ka halwa and gajar ka halwa. Both these are made in desi ghee with a generous helping of dry fruits, a sheer delight for the taste buds and a must have for those who dig Indian sweets. Another specialty is their chocolate barfi. The shop is open from 10-30 am to 8-30 pm with Sundays closed.
