A treat for food lovers, the entire line-up of restaurants in Gangtok is a delight. Interesting mix of Sikkimese and Tibetan cuisine, desserts that go melting the second you taste them, a dash of flavours from Bhutan and momos that are as soft as the steam that rises from their platter—that’s the city’s food scene for you. Choose from the tiny Roll House that goes rather big on taste, or the Taste of Tibet, which doles out piping hot thentuk. You cannot skip Baker’s Cafe as well, for it will woo you with its warm honey pancakes and Cafe Fiction with its special grilled sandwiches. Reserve at least one meal at the 9’INE Native Cuisine for a platterful of traditional Sikkimese meals such as Sikkimese pork curry and maachoo, the surprisingly yummy cottage cheese gravy. Variety is perhaps the right word for the food joints of Gangtok. Go, surprise yourself.
