There are few better places to explore on two wheels. The Port Hill have countless kilometres of mountain biking tracks, as does McLeans Island and Bottle Lake Forest Reserve. Only 20 minutes from Christchurch, the Waimakariri district is another mountain bikers’ favourite. On Banks Peninsula, the historic Little River Rail Trail is a great family ride. The city centre has cycle-friendly lanes and is only 10 minutes drive from the Port Hills, where the Summit Road, ‘Short Bays’ and ‘Long Bays’ are popular after-work and weekend circuits.
