Do not be misled by the name as the Government Street is anything but political. It is like what they say, “You can experience Victoria in just one street.” The historic monuments ―the British Columbia Parliament Buildings and the Royal British Columbia Museum are all located here along with the Inner Harbour as well. One of the oldest locales, Chinatown is a few blocks away. And yet this one street is where all the action is. From souvenir shops to book stores, restaurants to art galleries, bars to cafes, you can find anything and everything here. Vintage shops selling memorabilia, crafts of the First Nation people, local jewellery and fashion, pick your choice. If not anything, walking down the street with its eclectic and specialty shops is just a feast to the eyes. The colonial charm is still here and you can wander into any of the alleys and find a bit of ‘British’ everywhere―from the old buildings to the woolens and lace.
