Bilikar Rangaswamy Betta is about 75 kms from Bangalore towards South. Drive straight to Kanakapura taking Kanakapura road and then follow the map to Bilikal Rangaswamy betta. The last few kms of the road, which is a slight uphill drive, are not very good, so a high ground clearance vehicle is strongly recommended.
On top of the Bilikal Rangaswamy betta is a temple of Lord Ranganatha Swamy, on whom this hill is named. This temple is located underneath a huge, white coloured rock. Apart from the temple, you will also get breathtaking view of Kananapura and nearby hills and if you’re lucky, some fog.
You can comfortably spend an hour or so at the hill top, enjoying the sunrise and absorbing nature. Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta is within the limits of Reserve Forest and will have very thick vegetation post monsoon. Locals bring their cows and other animals here for feeding. The adjoining forests are habitat to elephants and other wild animals.
Be advised that there are no shops on the hill. Do carry essentials like water and snacks. You can possibly have breakfast on your way back. Trekking can also be done to Bilikal Betta, but after taking permission from authorities.
