Palazzo living for less
This two star, ten-room hotel does a nice line in classic, lived-in Venetian elegance. Details that might seem a little frou-frou in other cities – four-poster beds, the occasional crimson wall – work brilliantly inside the candy cane architecture of Venice, and the hotel’s traditional décor blends perfectly with its lacy iron balconies and statue-filled courtyard.
Perhaps Al Ponte Mocenigo’s greatest charm, however, is its good value. With simple rooms, it has the sort of location and historic building you’d normally expect from a hotel with a good few more stars after its name.
Fronting onto a sliver-thin canal a few minutes walk from a Vaporetto landing stage, it’s also conveniently just around the corner from the Fondazione Prada art gallery.
