Fresh produce in a vast, bustling market
This huge market is one of the city's busiest and a great place to get a real sense of just how passionate Vancouverites are about their food. It's an Aladdin's cave of fruit and veg, fish, meat, spices, and other, more artisan-inspired foods like Belgian chocolate, Italian bread and flavored cooking oils. There's also a Farmer's Market every Thursday during the summer, selling plants, flowers and everything from the fields.
Granville Island may be a tourist hub, but you'll still find locals here stocking up for the week ahead. Many city chefs also head here to source fresh ingredients.
