Celebrated chip shop near the cathedrals

Talk of the town: The restaurant claims to have a list of famous fans including Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson and Bruce Springsteen.

When visiting St Patrick's and Christ Church cathedrals, you may be distracted by a delicious waft of vinegar emanating from the gardens. One of Dublin's best known fish and chip shops, Leo Burdock's, is nearby, and, as it has limited seating, the cathedral grounds are a handy place to sit down and tuck in.

Burdock's has been in business for 100 years and the secret of its success is simple: spanking fresh fish, thick, perfectly cooked chips and lashings of salt and vinegar. Don't be put off by the inevitable queue - it moves fast and the grub is worth it.
