Belgium's largest public transport network

Word to the wise: The ticket machines do not accept bills, only coins and cards.

Operated by the Societe des Transports Intercommunaux (STIB), Brussels' public transport network is fast, efficient, and affordable. The underground metro system, trams, premetro (trams that run underground for at least part of the journey) and buses all run under the same ticketing system.

Tickets, offering unlimited travel for one hour on all STIB services, are sold at metro stations, STIB kiosks, on buses, trams, and even in newsagents and supermarkets. All services run from 5am to 12midnight. A night bus operates until 3am, priced at EUR 3.
