The glowing red chimneys dominate the Gazi skyline signposting the way to the arts heart of this thriving area. The Technopolis, an enclosed city of culture, houses concerts, museums, exhibitions, festivals and all-night raves in the series of stunning industrial spaces.

The former 19th-century gasworks once spewed out fumes polluting the previously down-and-out neighbourhood of Rouf, but after its conversion in 1999 into an industrial museum and cultural centre, it can now be considered one of the harbingers of the areas regeneration.
