An unsavoury yet eye-opening display
Free to enter, this curious museum not only gives an insight into the history of the commode, from 2500 BC to today, but also tells the story of the good work that the Sulabh International organisation does for India's many urban residents who exist without a toilet.
In India, sewerage facilities are available to no more than 30 per cent of the population in urban areas, whilst in the countryside, only three per cent of the population has access to pour flush latrines.
Here, the history of sewage systems, chamber pots, toilet 'furniture', bidets and water closets from around the world are displayed and explained with wit and wisdom.
