Rockin’ on the dock of the bay
Noteworthy for: The amphitheater and its hilly lawns are the location for many concerts throughout the year including Miami’s annual New Year’s Eve festivities.
Designed by Isamu Noguchu, who called the palatial 32 acre park “a wedge of art in the heart of the New World”, the aptly-titled Bayfront Park provides a lush green oasis of palm and olive trees along Biscayne Bay. A small sand beach, rock garden, waterfall, playground, and the Klipsch Amphitheater Park add to the park's appeal.
There are several noteworthy monuments here including the Challenger Memorial, a monument to the astronauts and teacher killed in the 1986 space shuttle accident, and the Mildred and Claude Pepper Fountain, recognizing the accomplishments of US Congressman Claude Pepper.
