Popular music venue with a rich history
Founded way back in 1939, the Showbox has staged some of the world's best music acts in its hip, art deco venue. Luminaries such Duke Ellington, Muddy Waters and Gypsy Rose Lee have performed here, along with contemporary Seattle stars like Pearl Jam.
A medium-sized, general admission (standing) venue that's just small enough to be intimate, the Showbox's back bar is raised so you can still see the show while enjoying a drink; two other bars provide an alternative if the back bar gets busy. If you're not keen on wearing your drinks, stay away from the mosh pit, which can get rowdy.
