Noteworthy for: In walking distance of Downtown, the Lower Queen Anne area is sometimes referred to as Uptown.
Word to the wise: For the ultimate cityscape snap, set up your tripod in Kerry Park at 211 West Highland Drive at sunset.
Bordering the northern end of Seattle's city center, Queen Anne takes its name from the architectural style typical of early houses in this area, which are now home to the city's modern elite. Boasting terrific views from its elevation on the city's tallest hill, this predominately residential area is peppered with several notable boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Conveniently, most of the action happens in Lower Queen Anne (LQA), south of the base of the hill. In 1962, LQA was the site of the Century 21 Exposition, a World's Fair. These days, the fairground houses some of the city's most popular attractions including the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, EMP Museum, Chihuly Garden and Glass and KeyArena, where the Seattle Storm plays. Here you'll find locals of the hip, urban professional variety, and eons of cool bars, restaurants and other entertainment options.
