Noteworthy for: The museum is housed in the original building constructed to power Sydney's electric tram system, which ceased service in 1961.
Dedicated to science and design, this public museum in Ultimo, near Darling Harbour, has hosted some excellent temporary exhibitions, from Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks to Audrey Hepburn's wardrobe.
Check the museum's webpage to see what's on, but even if none of the current exhibits piques your interest, it's still worth popping in to see the permanent collection of locomotives, furniture, fashion and interactive science exhibits.
The Powerhouse also manages Sydney Observatory, located in The Rocks. Simply stargaze, or opt to purchase the right to name your very own star.
