Drinking tea at Purple Cane borders on a religious experience: each pot is prepared to exacting standards using a variety of rituals and techniques. The proprietors kick-started a tea revolution in KL when they first opened Purple Cane in the mid-90s, and it remains the best place in town to grab a revitalising cup of oolong, jasmine or green tea.
The attached restaurant serves a variety of simple pan-Asian and European fare, with plenty of tea-inspired dishes and an emphasis on wholesome ingredients. Don't feel obligated to have a meal, though: the staff here are happy for you to sit with your tea and observe the varied crowd for a long as you wish.
