Pedal all the way home
Word to the wise: It may seem ambitious to go bike-shopping in Bangkok but you'll save yourself a fortune. Just make sure your airline allows sports equipment carriage before you buy.
Stocking a vast collection of used, vintage, rare, and new bikes from its Pathum Wan warehouse, S Sombat Kanamuji provides a great opportunity to pick up some wheels. Imported mainly from Japan, the quality of the bikes varies massively (they're often all piled up on top of each other) but this provides a good angle for haggling and you should be able to snag the bike of your choice for THB 2,000-7,000.
You can often find the odd Pashley or Scwinn kicking about in the mix and they're usually very accommodating when it comes to road-testing the bicycles.
