Get an up-close glimpse of rural Thai shopping culture as you cruise along the floating market of Damnoen Saduak on a long-tailed speedboat. The most famous of all the floating markets in Bangkok—the one you’ve seen photographed hundreds of times—Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is at its best in the wee hours of the morning. The colourfully clad merchants at these lively markets paddle along congested canals in sturdy canoes laden with fresh fruit and vegetables. The market is full of chatter and activity and bargaining for a good price is half the fun of shopping here. Head south of the market and you’ll find several small family businesses including a Thai candy maker and a knife crafter.
