This iconic restaurant is visible to all those who visit the Petra ruins. Designed in a 2000 year old tomb carved by the Nabataeans, it is located next to the main entry gate of the city, and just behind the Visitors Center. The Cave Bar is set against a backdrop of original caves and is rated as one of the best restaurants in the entire country.

Though there is loud music at the entrance, the interiors are quiet and peaceful. Due to its location, this restaurant makes for an ideal stopover after walking under the sun for so many hours in the hot desert ruins. This welcoming place is one of the few in the area, which serves alcohol. What’s more, their selection of drinks is pretty good. It feels soothing to enjoy a chilled beer or nurse a drink in their patio.


Cave Bar is a bit steeply priced but considering their prime location and excellent service and food, it actually seems to be worth it to pay a bit extra.

The courtyard where they serve food looks very inviting and the view of the city and the sunset from here is absolutely mesmerizing. There is local music playing softly in the background. They even have a soundless video of the Treasury being played on the main cave wall. The entire experience of drinking and dining in a tomb in the middle of the desert with Petra at walking distance away is purely magical. So go for it while you are there! Such experiences are hard to find.
