For sweeping views of Zurich, the lake and the Alps along with a nice drink in hand, head over to the Jules Verne Panoramabar. The beer served here is brewed by monks, the selection of wines is massive and the cocktails are inventive. Located on the 11th floor, the bar is quite small and narrow with wooden floors and tables and is accessed by an elevator that stands beside the Brasserie Lippe Restaurant. This former observatory seeks to encapsulate the vision of the author Jules Verne, keeping his creation ‘Around the world in 80 days’ in mind.

The beverages can be a tad bit pricey but considering the ambience and the view, emptying your pockets is justified. If you are a teetotaller, you could head over to this establishment for a satisfying European lunch. Jules Verne is located in the heart of Zurich’s Old Town and is hard to miss because of the crowd it attracts. It is a place for incurable romantics and if you are one, pop a bottle of champagne and lose yourself to the pointy rooftops and imposing skyscrapers of the largest city in Switzerland. Try scoring a table just before sunset.
