Quiz any backpacker about nightlife in Lima and Kokopelli Rooftop Bar will inevitably crop up in the list. Kokopelli is extremely popular with tourists in Lima and it’s the perfect place to make friends if you’re travelling solo. The music here is never too loud because conversations take centre stage at Kokopelli. In fact the management frequently invites locals who are pioneers in their fields—think musicians, guitarists, businessmen, surfers—to talk to guests about creative professions and making a mark in the twenty-first century. Drinks are reasonably priced and strong. If you’re in the mood for a bit of a dare after a few drinks—try the chilli pisco at Kokopelli. Better still, try to eat the chilli that’s been marinating in the pisco for a while. It might leave you with tears streaming down your face but it is a definite conversation starter. Kokopelli is the perfect place to relax and have a few drinks before heading out into town for a spot of dancing and partying.
