Derek Freal abandoned the American Dream in 2009 to travel the world and eventually realized that Asia is the best part, which is why most of his writing covers India to Indonesia (and everywhere in between). However Derek"s specialty is in unique and offbeat travel guides -- not just for Asia but countries across the globe -- and in producing travel videos. Most quality tempura restaurants also have high price tags, but that is where Tsunahachi is different. Their tempura is top-notch and the prices are surprisingly affordable. A basic lunch starts at around 1,500 and dinner at 2,400 yen, but Tsunahachi also offers a variety of larger sets and meals. Ingredients include shrimp, eel, squid, lobster, seasonal fish and other seafood, all in addition to the obligatory vegetables, of course.
Recommended dish: Since Tsunahachi is known for its tempura, I would be a hypocrite to recommend anything other than the Tempura Set. Shrimp, eel, assorted seafood, veggies, rice and miso soup. Delicious! Just do not forget the sake.
