Once a year during spring and once in autumn, attractions taken care by FAI and partners, see a special opening with free entrance and the possibility to contribute with a voluntary donation of any amount to the cause. Apart from the daily openings, there are special visits of attractions that wouldn’t be otherwise possible to visit on normal days. It’s a great occasion to go out of the standard tourist circuit and explore further than the historical center.
Online it’s available an updated list of all the places that is possible to visit for each edition of the event.
Note that the “Fondo Ambiente Italiano” is an organism whose work is spanning all over the Italian Peninsula, so in case you think you have seen enough of Rome, you might consider planning a daytrip. There can be anywhere from 600 to 800 places to visit in over 150 cities in the peninsula.
Attractions selected for the visit can change each edition, so we suggest to stay updated through the official website. Some of the entrances are reserved to people subscribed to FAI, in order to raise funds for the organization, but most of them are open to anybody.
