Playing with the elusive wind – La Fortuna and Laguna de Arenal are other spots to windsurf beside the Salinas Bay. The former is slightly chilly and the Salinas bay a little warm. As obvious, consistent strong winds are required to wind surf and the best months are December to April. These months happen to be bad for diving, as wind unsettles the planktons and thereby reducing the visibility under water. You must ideally book yourself with a tour who would know their wind and sails. If you are the getting-to-the-bottom of everything, you can choose to take wind and kite surfing lessons as well. There are just two to three most prominent operators who are reliable and can be trusted with both knowledge and excellent equipment.
