The adventures of river-rafting – rivers crisscross through the geography of Costa Rica, and during the rainy seasons, adventure enthusiasts rush to the Level V rapids to prove their mettle. Undisputable, this is a highly recommended sport. Be assured of this adventure measuring up to the world-class prefix attached to it. You will leave with a longing for the sights of Rio Pacuare which certainly inspired a few shots of the popular movie, Avatar. It is mandatory to head into the white waters with a certified guide. So going out alone is not just allowed, but is also risky. The benefit of lugging with a guide is that they will spot fun parts of the river for you, the most interesting being what is locally called the 'washing machine.' Basically, a spot in the river, where they will drop you in, and you will keep going in circles forever. You will neither go ahead, backwards, nor drown as the water creates a unique circular movement there because of the rocks.
