Gili Meno is the smallest, least developed and most laid-back of all Gili islands. Tiny Gili Meno is only 2 km big and is perfect for honeymooners, introverts and people with desert island fantasies who really want to escape from it all.
Again, there’s no motorized transport on the island to disrupt the peace and there are some good snorkelling and diving spots off the South and West coast beaches, a highlight is night diving at the famous Meno Wall. There is also a bird park and a seawater lake on the island.
As Gili Meno is the quietest and most peaceful of the three islands, it is best suited for families; the beaches, especially on the coast facing Lombok, are very safe for swimming. The choice of accommodation is more limited but there is still an adequate selection for most budgets. Also, a couple of resorts and laid-back beach bars are available to while away the day.
How to reach and where to stay
Speed boats and slow boats leave from various areas of Bali, Lombok and the Nusa islands to the Gili islands and normally take between 2–3 hours. There are many boats that run between the 3 Gili islands and there is no motorized transport on any of the Gili islands but you can take a horse and cart taxi or enjoy walking and cycling around the island.
The most luxurious resort on Gili Meno is the Mahamaya Resort situated in a super peaceful and quiet location with snorkelling right on the door step; for something a bit more affordable check out Biru Meno or Sunset Gecko resorts.
