Rijksmonument, better known as The Smallest House in Amsterdam is now registered as the national heritage of Netherlands. It is located in Oude Hoogstraat 22, the heart of the historical old city centre. It is also known as “The Smallest House of Europe" and has a rich history dating back to 1409. This tiny, cosy little house is only 2.02 m wide and 5 m deep with a surface area of 9 m. Famous for its tea room, which has just one table, it is one of the best places in Amsterdam to pack in fresh, loose tea. The tea room is located on the second floor and can accommodate upto five individuals, quite perfect for breakfast, lunch or high tea. Reservations are advisable. It is open to public from Tuesday through Saturday between 11:30 AM to 6 PM, while appointments are a must for Sunday visits.
