Costly, but worth it! Not many rail services can take you cross-country in a matter of 60 minutes. One of the world’s greatest and scenic train rides, it connects Colon on the Atlantic Coast and Panama on the Pacific. A one-way ticket costs $25 and the round-trip fare is double. The fare is $15 for children and $17.50 for senior citizens. The train runs parallel to the canal route, chugging steadily over the man-made lakes that feed the locks of the Panama Canal. The one-hour rail journey goes through scenic routes that enable tourists to feast their eyes. The train runs only on weekdays, departing from Panama City at 7:15 am and from Colon at 5:15 pm.
