A great way to explore the beautiful landscape of Latvia is to head to Slitere National Park. Sea lovers will enjoy the coastline complete with sandy beaches and dunes. Those looking for wildlife can come face to face with unusual and protected reptiles, including copperheads and swamp turtles. In addition, there are several trails throughout the park, whether you wish to hike, drive or cycle. Also worth visiting is the Slitere Lighthouse located on the steep slope of Blue Hills. Not only is it the second oldest Latvian lighthouse, but also the furthest inland and the highest above the sea level. Visitors can take in the views from the top of the forests, seashore and ships as well as explore the different floors which feature information on the nature of the park.
