Imagine stepping into an elevator that shoots to the top―233 metres to be precise―in 60 seconds. Your ears pop as you make it to the top of one of the tallest buildings in Asia, the Macau Tower. Now, how about a stroll that takes you around the circular tower, right on the edge, with no railings to hold you in place. That’s what you can expect with the sky-walk. A harness to keep you safe, but that didn’t keep the adrenalin rush at bay. I found myself sandwiched between two women who had an acute fear of heights as they walked, and finally gathered the courage to run across the rim. Sometimes, as you gain speed you slip off the edge, dangle in the air for a few seconds, until the harness has you putting your feet on the ground again.

But that’s not all, one can also drum and hum while you’re walking through the clouds. The Macau tower offers not just sky-walks, but bungee-jumping and sky drumming too. Too timid to jump, I opted for sky-drumming where a teacher sits with you on the edge while he hands you a tabla and teaches you to drum to a tune. The experience calms your fears even as the wind howls in your ears and you try to hold a tune. Whether you’re a music-lover, an adventure junkie, or just want to try something new, you’ll find it atop the tower.
