“Barcades” (bars that both sell booze and have arcade games) are a popular gimmick spreading across America. Located in the hipster neighbourhood of Wicker Park, this barcade has one thing that makes it better than most: all the arcade games are free. It really makes this barcade a better environment: not everyone is wearing back-break heels and a rib-cracking tight dress. Some people are there to booze and schmooze, while others are nerds there to have fun. Weird Japanese game shows play on the TVs, and the cocktails tend to be pretty damn decent. The earlier you go the more relaxed the atmosphere, so if you’re looking for clubbier vibe, come later at the night.
