With its high Mexican immigrant population it’s no surprise that Chicago Mexican food ain’t shabby, and Nuevo Leon knocks most of the competition out of the park. Located in Chicago’s Mexican neighborhood of Pilsen, Nuevo Leon is a favorite for people who want cheap food and great atmosphere. The minute you sit down they’ll give you a basket full of tortilla chips, salsa, and a potato-filled appetizer. The tamales are fantastic, the chile relleno exactly as it should be. The atmosphere is bustling, casual, and full of Christmas lights. It’s BYOB so you’ll have to provide your own margaritas, and they don’t take cards so bring your own cash. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
