The Ottawa River creates a natural border between the provinces of Ottawa and Quebec, and a beautiful backdrop to Parliament Hill. It is one of three rivers that meet at this scenic spot, and one of the reasons the location was chosen to be the capital of the entire country. Taking a boat ride from the historic spot where the Rideau Canal meets the Ottawa River is a wonderful way to relax and see a different perspective of the city. Many prominent landmarks and sights can be seen from the river such as the Parliament Buildings, the Canadian Museum of History, the Prime Minister's residence, several embassies and more. An onboard commentator announces the landmarks as they pass, and tells interesting and informative stories. This is a lovely outing at sunset, especially on warm summer days.
