Lauterbrunnen or ‘many fountains’ is located in perhaps one of the most stunning trough valleys in the Alps, between massive rocks and mountain peaks. Boasting of 72 bellowing waterfalls, vibrant alpine meadows and cosy mountain chalets, it is one of the largest nature conservation areas in Switzerland and is not very different from its neighbours Murren, Grindelwald and Wengen. There are many domestic and international train connections to the Interlaken Ost station from where you get on the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) to Lauterbrunnen. The front half of your train will get you to your destination.
