Sumedha has travelled across 28 countries, including a major chunk of India, and calls Japan, Thailand, France and Switzerland her pet destinations. She is seasoned in going off the beaten track and loves documenting her journeys. Apart from getting lost in metropolises, being stranded at airports and finding solace in the hills, she actively writes for eminent travel platforms. You can follow her trips on her social media handles.

Associated in every possible way with charm, luxury and elegance, Gstaad attracts the well-heeled sections of the society from every corner of the world. But that does not in any way deter the moderately affluent ones from taking a trip to this Alpine resort. From first-class hotels and wellness retreats, from avant garde dining experiences to high-end shopping options, this ski destination is like an enchantress waiting to spoil you. Do not be surprised if you find your favourite Bollywood star or that pop artist you’ve always adored living it up in Gstaad. This beauty in Berner Oberland ranks extremely high in popularity. It really is the Cannes of Switzerland, just prettier. However, despite all the opulence, this town actively upholds its modesty in the form of traditional farming. The unending expanse of pasture land and the infinite number of cows grazing on the same is proof of that fact.

Most travellers take a trip with Glacier 3000 from Gstaad, but from a horrifying personal experience, I can vouch for the fact that it is severely over-rated. Do not go looking around for day visits. Instead, relax to your heart’s content and if you can, treat yourself to some Michelin starred fare at Chesery. Getting to the resort is a piece of cake too as it lies on the scenic Golden Pass train route between Montreux and Zweisimmen. Gstaad is a proof of the fact that money can indeed buy happiness.
