This is one of the biggest artificial lakes in Chhattisgarh, constructed by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya around 400 years ago. Fishing and boating are very popular here and provide good means of livelihood to the locals here. Group fishing activity takes place early in the morning or late in the evening. Paddle boats and motor boats are provided by Government of Chhattisgarh to enjoy the serenity of this lake in its pristine glory. An evening visit to this lake with the setting sun scattering a million combinations of colors in the horizon lends an ethereal aura to the tranquility of this lake. A small island with musical fountains and a light tower has been brought up in the middle of this lake to provide a recreation place for the tourists that come to visit this lake. Some portion of the lake gets dried up in the peak summers and winters but the regular cleaning out the weeds is a must to maintain the subsistence of this lake.
