Savi and Vid have been to over 500 cities in 70 countries, following their love of offbeat and luxury travel. From hiking glaciers in Alaska to dining with Penguins in South Africa, their adventures and photographs have been featured on several TV stations and newspapers, including Discovery Channel and the Huffington Post. They are particularly in love with road trips and in the last year alone, they’ve driven over 20,000 miles in a dozen countries. They write about their experiences on www.bruisedpassports.com.
Granada is located in the lap of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It would be a shame not to see the dramatic gorges, majestic cliffs and snow-laden mountains that comprise Sierra Nevada National Park. You will start noticing a dramatic change in scenery within an hour of driving out of Granada. First up, you will spot orchards full of apples and cherries, vineyards and olive groves. Eventually sunny towns will give way to mountains that are perfect for hikes, treks, and even skiing.
Make sure you stop in Trevélez to sample the cured ham, a local speciality. If you’re interested in skiing, carry on to The Sierra Nevada ski resort in Pradollano. You can also go for a number of hikes and treks in the area. We suggest taking an organised tour if you’re not an experienced hiker as some of the trails are not well-marked and it’s easy to get lost. Don’t forget to carry light woollens and sun cream—the sun’s rays can be extremely strong in this area.
