Hotel Flokalundur is a tiny hotel in the Westfjords, with a camping site next to it. It’s located near Vatnsfjordur where the first settlers of Iceland landed. All 15 rooms at Hotel Flokalundur are basic but the view from the ocean-facing rooms is breathtaking. Only one of the rooms is accessible by wheelchair, so we suggest booking ahead if you need assistance. Breakfast is plentiful. Their staff is knowledgeable about the area and happy to suggest walks, treks, and road trips around the hotel.
Hotel Flokalundur is located in the lap of Iceland’s Westfjords, an area that is cut off from the rest of Iceland for most of the year due to roads blocked by snow. The rugged Westfjords are stunning and Hotel Flokalundur is ideally located to allow visitors to explore most of the highlights of the area. Don’t leave without seeing Latrabjarg, the westernmost point of Europe.
