Anuradha Shankar is a mother, traveller, freelance writer, compulsive bookworm.. not necessarily in that order. She lives in Mumbai and aims to travel as much as she can across the country, 11 year old son in tow. Her blog "A Wandering Mind" is primarily a travel blog, but true to its name it wanders all the time - from events to random thoughts, book reviews to her son"s latest peccadilloes
By air: The nearest airport is at Kozhikode (85 Km).
By road: There are Kerala State Transport Buses available from Kozhikode.
You can drive down from Bangalore (320 Km), passing through the Bandipur National Park, or from Mysore (140 Km), a route which takes you along the Kabini river through Nagarhole National Park. Both routes are excellent, with good roads and possibility of sighting animals and birds.
Where to stay: There are plenty of resorts in Wayanad, in and around Kalpetta as well as the major tourist spots. There are also plenty of homestays in the region, which are worth a try.
