Although the café culture in Havana isn’t exactly booming, there are a few spots that are famous for serving the best Cuban desserts. You’ll find people queuing up in the heat outside Museo del Chocolate for a taste of their delicious chocolate preparations—everything on the menu is made using cacao from the mountains of Baracoa—and the chocolate fria (a cold chocolate drink made with honey and milk) is what most people gun for. Café Neruda located on the sea front is one of the few places you can order a freshly squeezed fruit juice, while the grand looking Café El Lucero with its colonial interiors is a good spots for tapas style food paired with wine. For a true-blue coffee-shop experience, Café El Escorial serves some of the most delicious coffee in Havana (a unique blend of Arabic and Cuban beans) and also sells freshly ground coffee that you can take away.
