Long before the advent of global snack companies, there was Budhani Brothers Waferwala. Owned by one of the most famous wafer manufacturers in Pune, this family-run shop was started in 1964. Filled with a wide variety of wafers—think potato, masala, banana, cheese, tomato and cornflakes—it is guaranteed to make anyone feel like a kid in a candy shop. Spicy snack mixtures with cashew nuts groundnuts, peanuts and gram are also available, as are Parsi-style sali (deep-fried potato straws) and Pune’s savoury specialty, chiwda.
