Snapshot of ancient life
This replica of Abu Dhabi’s traditional past can seem a bit like an overblown souvenir shop. It does, however, offer one of the few glimpses into the emirate’s old way of life—a vision increasingly difficult to conjure amidst the skyscrapers that now dominate the city.
Built in the style of a traditional oasis village, it's kitted out with goat-hair tents, traditional irrigation systems and craftsmen weaving by hand—just like the pre-oil days. Falconry demos and camel rides help round out the experience. Those less interested in the region’s history can enjoy the area's lush, fountain-filled gardens.
