People watching the video are startled by the cool demeanour of the boy, and many of us cannot help but think of the horrifying scene in the Hollywood film, The Revenant, where Leonardo Di Caprio’s on screen character gets mauled by a bear. But the boy seems to be smart, and according to news reports, he had seen videos online regarding such incidents. He said that he learnt from such videos that during such situations, everyone must keep their calm, and never scream or shout. As the bear becomes aggressive when that happens, and is likely to attack.
The particular area where Alessandro and his family were hiking are known to have about 82 to 93 bears. However, there have been rare instances where humans, and bears have collided with each other. There have been a total of three maulings since 2014 in this area.
This is a great lesson for anyone who loves to hike, as this can happen to any of us. The boy’s video is proof that you must keep calm, and act cooly in order to avoid getting mauled by a bear.
