Enjoy the city's best museums in a beautiful, natural setting
Formerly the king's hunting island, these days it is a hub of nature-loving activity. Djurgården plays host to many museums, restaurants, an amusement park and about 800 of the city's wealthiest citizens.
The world-famous Vasa Museum, which houses the preserved 17th-century Vasa ship, calls Djurgården home, as well as Skansen, the world's oldest outdoor museum. A highlight here is Waldemarsudde, the original home of Oskar II's son and now a popular art museum. The stunning mansion and the perfectly manicured gardens are worth the short hike and offer beautiful views of Södermalm.
