Old-fashioned French cuisine with a Polish twistPopular plate: The venison medallions with wild mushroom and cranberry sauce are a delicious example of Franco-Polish fusion.
Set in a medieval cellar on the nothern edge of the Old Town, Cyrano de Bergerac is consistently rated as one of the best restaurants in Poland. It's formal, it's old-fashioned – some would say stuffy – but the food is outstanding.
For the most part it's solid French bistro fare: snails slathered with garlic butter, grilled meat with rich sauces, perfectly cooked fresh seafood. This being Krakow, however, the chefs can't resist drawing on Polish tradition – the steak tartare comes with a shot of bison grass vodka, for instance, and the warm starters include the obligatory pierogi.
