For the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh cricket, Indore's Holkar Cricket Stadium will host Test match for India's scheduled home-series against New Zealand slated to commence from October.

INDORE: For the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh cricket, Indore's Holkar Cricket Stadium will host Test match for India's scheduled home-series against New Zealand slated to commence from October.
On Thursday, BCCI (Board of Cricket Control of India) announced that the three-Test series against New Zealand will be played at Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata.

However the date is yet to be finalised for the test match to be played at Indore.
Announcement of Holkar cricket stadium as a test cricket venue has given a major boost to the state. Speaking to TOI, Sanjay Jagdale, President, adhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), said, "This is almost like a dream come true for us. Every cricket stadium aims of becoming a test-venue. We have been working hard for the recognition of the cricket stadium and the infrastructure that we provide is as per the international standards."
The infrastructure and facilities that are available at the stadium for the players has played a significant role in the growth of cricket game. "Players from state have performed at international matches and this announcement is the biggest achievement for us," he added.
As per the official tour announcement of BCCI against New Zealand, the home series will start with three test matches and five ODIs (One-day international). Dharamsala, Delhi, Mohali, Ranchi and Vizag will host the five ODIs against New Zealand.
MPCA officials have claimed that this announcement will boost the cricket culture amongst the youth of the state and will create an identity of Indore at the national level. As per the official sources, MPCA is still awaiting the directions that would be given by BCCI if any required for the upcoming test-match.
With a seating capacity of around 30,000 spectators, till date Holkar cricket stadium has hosted four ODIs ever since it was built. Rohit Pandit, Chief Executive officer (CEO), MPCA, said, "Credit goes to all the efforts and hard-work of the MPCA officials who have been working for enhancing the facilities at the cricket stadium."
