The PM Jan Dhan scheme was launched in 2014 to provide bank accounts to those Indians who don’t have one. A decade later, though a chunk of the 56 crore accounts have fallen dormant, uptake patterns show how it’s proving its utility
According to a recently answered Parliament question, over 13 crore of the 56 crore Jan Dhan accounts – an initiative primarily meant for the financial inclusion of the poor and to ensure access to various government schemes – are inoperative.
