Lawyers and consumer rights experts argue that procedural delays should not automatically extinguish a genuine claim, especially when the insurer does not otherwise dispute its validity or admissibility.

Health insurers usually stipulate timelines within which policyholders must intimate claims and submit supporting documents after hospitalisation. For policyholders already coping with treatment-related anxiety, keeping track of documentation deadlines is not always easy. Yet, even a minor delay in filing paperwork can sometimes lead to repudiation, despite the claim being otherwise admissible under the policy.
