Tired of dating apps, young Indians are signing up for blind dates on stage, where stand-ups mix humour and matchmaking

On a small comedy stage, two strangers sit blindfolded under bright lights while a live audience watches their first conversation. The hosts hover nearby, mics in hand. “Is he wearing a mundu?” she asks, eyes covered by a blindfold. “Yes,” says the South Indian host.

“Is he dusky?” she wonders. “Yes… but wait…” the other host teases. “Did you say that because he’s wearing a mundu?” “No,” she laughs. “I’m into dusky guys.”
