She was part of a trekking group that climbed Kodagu’s highest peak, when she got lost. All she had was her wits, a dead phone and a bottle of water.

She was part of a group of 10 when she set off to climb Tadiandamol, the highest peak in Kodagu district, on April 2. It was on the way back down that GS Sharanya, who is from Nadapuram in Kerala’s Kozhikode district, suddenly discovered that she was alone.

She said she saw other members of the trekking party, but when Sharanya followed a path to try and meet them, she only found herself deeper in the jungle and still alone. She tried contacting a colleague but her phone battery ran out of charge. All she had with her was a 500 ml bottle of water.
